Web Browsing

How do I use Slingbox or LocationFree with my SK3?

Did you know that MySpace is the #1 website visited on the T-Mobile Sidekick? What makes you most addicted to MySpace on your Sidekick?

How to Browse the Web

1. Press JUMP to go to the Jump screen. Scroll to highlight Web Browser, then press the trackball to open the application.
2. Start typing the address of the Web page you wish to visit. The Go To dialog box opens automatically, showing the address you are typing.
3. The characters you type appear in the top field of the Go To dialog box. Possible URL matches, and the option to search for the text you type, appear in the drop-down menu.
4. To go to a Web page, you can either finish typing the complete URL in the Go To dialog box then press Return; or, roll the trackball to highlight a suggested URL in the drop-down menu, then press the trackball.

Tips & Tricks

1. To open Web pages faster, press MENU and select Settings. Scroll down the Settings screen and clear the “Show Pictures” check box.

2. Press and hold menu, shift and t to display your web browser in full screen mode.

3. Web browsers IE 5+ are supported on both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems.

4. The Web pages displayed on your device will look different than on your home computer screen. The pages are reformatted so they are easier to read on a small display. The same or similar information displays; it’s just laid out on the screen so that it’s easier to view on your device.

5. HOWP (hiptop's other web proxy). Go to howp.hiptools.net and type in a site, and it shows it in a format that images wont get cut off, or helps with making pages load faster.

Hard Time Viewing Certain Websites?

Mobile Proxies for hard to view sites

I am posting this info in regards to the wiki site and a few others that really are difficult or impossible to view on the sidekick.
I have tested all four of the mobile proxies I use and they seem to make the wiki much more viewable and less load intensive on the sidekick. I still can't sign in, but at least I can view it. These proxies work for a lot of sites that aren't normally viewable on the sidekick browser:

This was on a yahoo group regarding my space.

"I told everyone who was having myspace problems ... to go to www.login.myspace.com to log in from a sidekick ... u just can't log in from the myspace index home page where it says login2 in the address ........ I've been saying that since november .... it will take you to an advertisement page and then you click on the link that says skip advertisement and it takes you straight to your home page and settings"

I am not a myspace user...and have not tried...but for those who have a need....give it a whirl?

Thanks

Bill

cdscoville sidekick 3 on a cingular network 1 Mar 30 2008, 9:23 PM EDT by mustanggt873

I am trying to make a sidekick 3 work on a cingular network. I have voice and text messaging working but not web browsing. I was told that I need to change the access point name, username and password and proxy and actually have the appropriate info for each of those settings but cant figure out how to get to those settings inside the sidekick 3. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok, so here's just a few I've had trouble with:

- IM lag. and I mean LAAAAAAAAAAAG
- when I'm signed on, it seems to sign everyone on my buddy list on, imcluding those who are really off, and then signs everyone off except those that are truly on. If you don't understand, consider this: You're signed on aim and out of nowhere, you hear a whole bunch of people sign off that weren't even online in the first place.
- I try to edit my buddy list (move people into different groups, edit my friends' nicknames) but it doesn't save and it goes back to how it was originally before I edited everything. This has happened a few times and I've had to delete people I've deleted SEVERAL times before because it didn't "save".

What's with this?!
Any solutions?
